DUBAI – The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai 2026 has entered its third day with the energy inside Dubai World Trade Centre showing little sign of slowing down.

After two days packed with royal visits, major airline announcements, new partnerships, technology showcases and lively industry discussions, the world's travel community is continuing to converge on Dubai.

The 33rd edition of ATM runs until September 17 under the theme “Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology”, bringing together 1,405 organisations, institutions and companies from the UAE and around the world.

A powerful opening

The event made an immediate impact on Day 1 when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the exhibition with Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and senior officials.

The visit also produced a major snapshot of Dubai's tourism performance. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said Dubai welcomed around 7 million tourists during the first eight months of 2026, while 21 million hotel room nights were booked during the same period.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, also toured ATM on its opening day. At the Emirates stand, he sampled the airline's new Premium Economy electric seat, including its adjustable privacy divider. Emirates also opened its ATM campaign with seven new tourism partnerships across several international markets.

The opening day also saw Dubai Police put its smart security and tourist-support services on display, while the dramatic Mansory Ferrari 812 Superfast became one of the exhibition's visual talking points.

Then came the deals

Day 2 shifted the focus firmly towards business.

Emirates signed 11 partnership agreements, covering tourism promotion, new customer segments, travel distribution and airline cooperation. The agreements included renewed ties with Sri Lanka and the Maldives, a new partnership with Japan, cooperation with Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah Police, and a reciprocal codeshare arrangement with Kuwait Airways.

Etihad Airways added another major announcement with the launch of Etihad Escapes, a new platform initially allowing passengers to add hotel accommodation to their flight bookings. The service is planned to expand into a broader digital travel platform covering flights, hotels, loyalty and additional services.

Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail also signed an agreement during the event, opening another chapter in the UAE's developing air-and-rail connectivity story.

AI meets travel

Away from airline announcements, technology has become one of the defining threads of ATM 2026.

The debut ATM Travel Tech showcase has brought more than 180 exhibitors from 30 countries to the event, with AI, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, fintech and green technology among the areas on display.

The Future Stage has taken the conversation further, looking at how AI could change travel discovery, destination management, customer experiences and the infrastructure behind tourism.

The technology focus fits directly into ATM's wider Travel 2040 theme, putting the question of how people will discover, book and experience destinations at the centre of the event.

GCC looks ahead

Day 2 also brought a wider regional conversation, with senior tourism and business-events figures from the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Ras Al Khaimah discussing how Gulf destinations can collaborate while retaining their individual identities.

The discussion comes as the region's business-events sector records strong growth. ICCA figures cited during the session showed international association meetings in the Middle East grew 45% in 2025, compared with 22% globally.

The message from the discussion was not about creating one identical Gulf tourism product, but about making different destinations work together while preserving the experiences, cultures and identities that distinguish them.

The show rolls on

The momentum is now carrying into Day 3, with exhibitors continuing meetings, destinations presenting their latest offerings and travel professionals moving between increasingly busy stands.

Germany is highlighting the strength of its GCC market, reporting 1.2 million GCC overnight stays in 2025, while travellers from the region spent €3 billion in the country. Czechia is promoting its wellness, gastronomy, culture and lesser-known destinations, while Sri Lanka is bringing its heritage and cultural experiences to the exhibition floor.

Across the halls, the same picture continues to emerge: ATM Dubai 2026 is no longer simply a showcase of destinations and travel products. It has become a meeting point for airlines, tourism authorities, hotels, technology companies and travel businesses looking to build the next chapter of global tourism.

And with one full day still to come after today, the Dubai travel gathering has plenty more ground to cover.
