Dubai public transport hits 348 million journeys in six months
Average daily ridership reaches nearly 1.9 million
DUBAI – Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that public transport, shared mobility services and taxis carried 348.1 million riders during the first half of 2026, with average daily ridership reaching nearly 1.9 million.
Dubai Metro led the network with 136.5 million riders, accounting for 39.2 percent of all journeys, followed by taxis with 88.9 million and public buses with 85.1 million. Together, Metro and buses made up 64 percent of total ridership.
The RTA said the figures reflect growing confidence in Dubai's integrated transport network as the emirate continues investing in sustainable mobility. The share of trips made using public transport and shared mobility has increased from 6 percent in 2006 to 22.3 percent in 2025.
Dubai is also expanding its transport infrastructure through the 30-kilometre Blue Line, the approved 42-kilometre Gold Line, and the phased rollout of 637 new buses, including 40 electric buses. The authority is also preparing to launch commercial air taxi services later this year while advancing its driverless taxi and Dubai Loop projects.
