ABU DHABI – The UAE capital has upgraded its regulatory system for holiday homes, making it easier for owners, operators and sector partners to manage licensing and approvals.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) said the latest enhancements are designed to reduce approval times and simplify regulatory procedures.

The updated digital platform also strengthens compliance, revenue management and coordination with government entities.

Digital upgrades

The enhanced system provides a more flexible digital experience for holiday home stakeholders, while introducing tools for improved monitoring, inspections and compliance tracking. These features are intended to help operators maintain required quality and safety standards while meeting regulatory obligations.

The platform also incorporates measures to ensure compliance with applicable data protection policies, with sensitive information managed and stored securely.

Hamad Mohammed Alsudain, Acting Executive Director of Support Services at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the holiday homes sector continues to see robust growth, supported by greater transparency, efficiency and an increasingly user-friendly operating environment.

He said the latest improvements support Abu Dhabi’s position as a global tourism destination and align with the emirate’s Tourism Strategy 2030, including efforts to strengthen the holiday home segment and diversify accommodation options.

Faster permits

The latest changes build on upgrades introduced to the Holiday Home System in 2024, when DCT Abu Dhabi worked with government stakeholders to integrate the licensing platform with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and the self-inspection system.

That integration reduced holiday home permit issuance time to under six hours, while improving coordination between regulatory processes.

The latest digital enhancements further expand the system’s capabilities, covering licensing, compliance monitoring and operational oversight through a more streamlined platform for the emirate’s growing holiday home sector.
