Wizz Air announces Dubai and Abu Dhabi return
The carrier has yet to reveal routes, launch dates or flight allocations
DUBAI – Wizz Air has signalled a return to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, announcing plans to bring the two UAE cities back into its network alongside Jeddah and Amman.
The airline said the four destinations would return with 12 routes and 49 weekly flights, potentially marking a renewed push into the Gulf market. The announcement was made on social media on Wednesday, September 9, although several key details about the services are yet to be disclosed.
“Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah and Amman are coming back with 12 routes and 49 weekly flights. Book them now!” the airline said in an Instagram post.
The move comes a year after Wizz Air ended its locally based Wizz Air Abu Dhabi operation and exited its regional joint venture. The Abu Dhabi-based airline officially ceased operations on September 1, 2025, with the final base departures taking place on August 31.

Wizz Air has not yet published a full breakdown of the 12 routes. Details including the destinations served, launch dates and how the 49 weekly flights will be distributed between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah and Amman remain unclear.
The airline has also not specified whether the services will be operated by its European entities or whether the announcement signals the creation of another locally based operation.
The planned return would restore a larger Wizz Air presence in the UAE after the closure of its Abu Dhabi base, although the airline continued selected services to the region through its wider European network.

Wizz Air's previous Abu Dhabi operation faced a combination of regional geopolitical instability, airspace disruptions and operational constraints.
The airline had also cited the challenging regional operating environment and engine-related issues linked to operating in extreme heat among factors affecting its Abu Dhabi business.
The latest announcement does not provide further details on how those challenges will be addressed or when the new services will begin.
