Dubai Mallathon 2026: Sheikh Hamdan launches three-month indoor fitness movement
Residents and visitors invited to embrace active lifestyles this summer
DUBAI – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has launched the second edition of Dubai Mallathon, a city-wide fitness initiative that transforms major shopping malls into indoor walking and running destinations.
The three-month programme will run from June 15 to September 15, 2026, allowing residents and visitors to stay active during the summer months.
Dubai Mallathon
Described as the world’s first initiative of its kind, Dubai Mallathon will open malls across the city for daily walking, running and a variety of sports activities, creating accessible spaces for people of all ages to take part in fitness programmes.
Announcing the launch, Sheikh Hamdan said the initiative aims to transform Dubai’s shopping malls into vibrant sports and community destinations throughout the summer. He invited residents, visitors, families and communities to participate in the activities, highlighting the goal of making movement a daily habit and wellbeing a shared priority.
The initiative is organised in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council and builds on the success of the first edition, which attracted more than 40,000 participants across Dubai. The programme combines fitness with community engagement, using the city’s malls as comfortable indoor venues for exercise during the warmer months.
Record success
The inaugural Dubai Mallathon also achieved global recognition after setting a Guinness World Record for the largest running race held inside a shopping mall. The record was secured during the finale at Dubai Hills Mall, where 1,392 runners participated in a single race.
This year’s edition will continue the concept of bringing sports closer to communities by offering opportunities for walking, running and other activities in some of Dubai’s leading malls. Participants will be able to join the programmes daily throughout the initiative period, with activities designed to encourage healthier routines in an inclusive environment.
Focus on fitness
Dubai Mallathon 2026 forms part of Dubai’s wider efforts to promote active lifestyles and create spaces where residents and visitors can participate in accessible fitness experiences.
The initiative will welcome people from different age groups and fitness levels, turning everyday destinations into places for movement, connection and community activities.
