Al Jalila Foundation secures Dh20m support for Dubai cancer hospital systems
New systems will support safety, reliability and continuity across the medical facility
DUBAI – Al Jalila Foundation has signed a donation agreement with Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation to support the development of Dubai Health’s Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital (HBRCH), Dubai’s first integrated and comprehensive cancer hospital.
The contribution, valued at Dh20 million, will help deliver advanced engineering systems designed to strengthen the hospital’s infrastructure and operational capabilities. The agreement reflects a collaboration between philanthropic organisations and engineering specialists to support a major healthcare facility focused on cancer treatment, research and innovation.
The agreement was signed at Al Jalila Foundation by Dr Amer Al Zarooni, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jalila Foundation, and Easa Al Gurg, Group CEO of Al Gurg Group, in the presence of Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation, and Dr Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health.
As part of the initiative, Scientechnic and Al Gurg Automation & Controls (AGAC), companies under Al Gurg Group, will provide a range of advanced systems for the hospital. The support includes life safety solutions, emergency evacuation systems and power distribution infrastructure required for the reliable operation of the medical facility.
The engineering scope will cover low-voltage (LV) switchgear panels for the hospital, including design, supply, testing and factory acceptance testing. It will also include fire alarm systems, voice evacuation solutions and central battery systems, with supply, testing and commissioning services. These technologies are designed to support operational continuity and ensure the hospital’s infrastructure functions efficiently.
Health for humanity
Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is a key initiative of Al Jalila Foundation and forms part of Dubai Health’s vision to advance health for humanity through the integration of Care, Learning, Discovery and Giving. The facility is expected to serve as a regional centre of excellence for cancer treatment and research, bringing together specialised healthcare services and medical innovation.
Commenting on the partnership, Easa Al Gurg said the project represents an important investment in the future of healthcare in the UAE. He added that Al Gurg Group was proud to contribute its technical expertise through Scientechnic and AGAC, supporting an initiative that aims to create a lasting impact for patients, families and the wider community.
Dr Amer Al Zarooni expressed appreciation for the contribution from Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation, highlighting the importance of partnerships in advancing healthcare initiatives. He said the agreement demonstrates Al Jalila Foundation’s role in directing philanthropy towards projects with long-term impact and bringing together expertise from different sectors to support the delivery of advanced healthcare infrastructure.
Technical support
Scientechnic, the flagship company of Al Gurg Group, is an engineering solutions provider in the UAE with decades of experience delivering systems for major developments. AGAC, meanwhile, specialises in automation systems integration and provides control solutions across a diverse range of local and international projects. Through their involvement in Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, both companies will contribute technical expertise to support the facility’s advanced infrastructure requirements.
Established in April 2013 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Al Jalila Foundation works to support medical advancement through healthcare programmes, scholarships and research initiatives. The foundation also provides essential treatment support for individuals unable to afford healthcare.
Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation was established in 2010 by the late Easa Saleh Al Gurg through a royal decree to support humanitarian and community-focused initiatives. Its work spans healthcare, education and social welfare, including support for medical facilities, rehabilitation centres and medical assistance programmes for those in need.
