DUBAI – Dubai has announced the launch of the Dubai Metro Gold Line project, marking the city’s largest transportation development to date.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled the initiative as part of the emirate’s long-term urban expansion strategy. The project represents a major step in enhancing public transport infrastructure and supporting population growth across the city.

The new metro line will span 42 kilometres and is designed as the first fully integrated underground route within the Dubai Metro network. With a total investment of Dh34 billion, the project is scheduled for completion and opening on 9 September 2032.

The Gold Line will pass through 15 key strategic areas across Dubai, targeting districts experiencing rapid residential and commercial growth. It is expected to serve approximately 1.5 million residents, significantly improving accessibility and reducing travel times across the emirate.

In addition to easing commuter movement, the line will strengthen connectivity to 55 major real estate developments currently under construction. This alignment with ongoing urban projects highlights the integration of transport planning with Dubai’s wider development agenda.
