Watch: Robotaxis hit Dubai roads
DUBAI has begun commercial operations of its autonomous taxi service, with the Roads and Transport Authority deploying an initial fleet of 100 driverless vehicles across Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim.
The launch marks a key milestone in the emirate’s transition from pilot testing to real-world deployment of driverless mobility.
The service is being rolled out in partnership with WeRide and Apollo Go, with bookings now available via the Uber and Apollo Go apps. The integration with established ride-hailing platforms is expected to support wider adoption among residents and visitors.
Authorities plan to gradually expand the fleet in line with demand, as Dubai advances its Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims for 25 percent of all journeys to be autonomous by 2030. The rollout also reinforces the city’s position as a global hub for advanced mobility solutions, supported by its infrastructure and forward-looking regulatory framework.
