DUBAI – Dubai Mallathon 2026 is extending its reach beyond shopping centres for the first time, with organisers unveiling an exclusive event at Dubai International Airport (DXB) this August.

The special activation will transform the airport into an indoor walking track, marking a major milestone for one of Dubai's flagship summer fitness initiatives. Designed to encourage healthier lifestyles even during the hottest months of the year, the airport edition reflects the continued evolution of the city-wide programme.

The initiative is inspired by the vision of Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make Dubai one of the world's most active and healthiest cities. By bringing the Mallathon concept to one of the world's busiest international airports, organisers aim to showcase how everyday spaces can be reimagined to promote movement and community wellbeing.

Airport first

The DXB activation is the first time Dubai Mallathon will be held at an airport. Participants will have the opportunity to walk through specially designated indoor routes, experiencing the airport in a completely different way from its usual role as a global travel hub.

Organisers have confirmed that the event will be held exclusively for invited guests. Access will be strictly limited, and members of the public have been advised not to travel to Dubai International Airport to attend, as entry will only be granted to those with invitations.

The announcement adds a new dimension to Dubai Mallathon 2026, which has already returned for its biggest edition yet. Running from June 15 to September 15, the free initiative allows residents and visitors to walk, jog or run indoors every morning from 7am to 10am, providing a comfortable alternative to exercising outdoors during the summer heat.

Dubai Mallathon

This year's Mallathon takes place across nine participating malls: Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Hills Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Festival City, Dubai Festival Plaza and Springs Souk. Participants can choose from 2.5km, 5km and 10km routes, making the event accessible to walkers, casual joggers and experienced runners alike.

As part of the Dubai Summer Surprises 2026 programme, Dubai Mallathon has become one of the season's standout community initiatives, combining fitness with accessible indoor venues across the city. Last year's edition attracted more than 40,000 participants and earned a Guinness World Record, underlining its growing popularity.
