Dubai to open 35 new parks with Dh348 million investment
Green spaces to serve 23 neighbourhoods within walking distance
DUBAI – Dubai is set to expand its network of green spaces with the launch of 35 new parks this year, backed by an investment of Dh348 million.
The initiative forms part of the emirate’s long-term urban development strategy aimed at enhancing liveability and community wellbeing. Authorities say the new parks will be spread across 23 residential areas, adding more than 340,000 square metres of public space.
The projects fall under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, alongside the Parks and Greenery Strategy and the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030. Together, these frameworks aim to embed accessible and sustainable public spaces into everyday life across the city.
Accessible spaces
All parks will be located within a five-minute walking distance of nearby neighbourhoods, reinforcing accessibility as a core planning principle. Designed as open and unfenced areas, the spaces will integrate with their surroundings while reflecting the identity of each community.

According to Dubai Municipality, the parks will incorporate climate-responsive designs and resilient infrastructure. These features are intended to support year-round use while adapting to environmental conditions.
Community design
The parks will be structured around five integrated zones to encourage continuous use throughout the day. These include early childhood play areas, active playgrounds, sports facilities for various age groups, social and food and beverage zones, and flexible indoor and outdoor community spaces.
Collectively, the developments will include more than 60 children’s play areas, 18 football fields and 20 multi-use sports courts. Additional features will include skate areas, running and cycling tracks, open green lawns, shaded seating, picnic spots and water elements.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the projects reflect a focus on building a human-centric urban environment. He noted that the expansion of neighbourhood parks is aimed at improving quality of life and strengthening social cohesion across communities.
Sustainability focus
The programme also integrates environmental initiatives, including expanded tree planting and the use of recycled irrigation water. Renewable energy solutions will be introduced alongside artificial intelligence and robotics to enhance environmental monitoring and resource efficiency.
Dubai Municipality is also encouraging private sector participation through Public-Private Partnership models. This approach is aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, supporting faster delivery and broader economic activity linked to public infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the municipality plans to deliver 310 new parks and upgrade more than 220 existing ones by 2040, as part of a wider push to position Dubai among the world’s most liveable cities.
