DUBAI – Middle East travellers can now search and compare flights using natural language, following the launch of Skyscanner’s integration with ChatGPT.

The move marks a shift in how users interact with travel platforms, replacing traditional form-based searches with conversational queries. The feature is now available through the ChatGPT App Store, allowing users to access Skyscanner’s flight comparison tools directly within the chat interface.

The integration allows travellers to search for flights by typing simple prompts such as “find me the cheapest flight to New York in December”, with results displayed instantly. These results include live pricing, routes and options, presented visually within the chat, enabling users to make quicker and more informed decisions.

New search

Once installed, the Skyscanner app within ChatGPT enables users to refine their searches through follow-up messages. Travellers can adjust dates, switch departure airports or explore alternative destinations without restarting the process. This conversational approach reduces friction and simplifies what has traditionally been a multi-step booking journey.

The company confirmed that the integration retains its core flight comparison capabilities, including pricing data and route analysis. These features are now delivered through a conversational format, aligning with wider industry trends towards more intuitive, user-led search experiences.

Skyscanner, which reports around 160 million monthly users globally, said the launch reflects changing user behaviour, with increasing demand for faster and more flexible ways to search for travel options.

AI expansion

Beyond flight search, Skyscanner is expanding its use of artificial intelligence across its platform. AI-powered chatbots are now being deployed for hotel bookings and car hire services, offering personalised recommendations based on user preferences and travel needs.

These tools are designed to streamline the booking process further, helping travellers make decisions more efficiently while maintaining access to comprehensive search results. The company indicated that such integrations aim to enhance both speed and accuracy across different stages of the travel journey.

Future tools

Additional AI-driven features include the ‘Football Flight Finder’, developed for fans planning travel around the 2026 World Cup. The tool simplifies multi-city itineraries, identifies cost-effective routes and tracks fare changes as match fixtures are announced.

Piero Sierra, Chief AI Officer at Skyscanner, said the company has been focused on reducing friction in travel search while improving user confidence. He noted that the ChatGPT integration allows travellers in the Middle East to access the platform’s full range of flight options and pricing within a single conversational interface.

The company added that its long-term strategy involves moving beyond static search forms towards more dynamic, answer-led systems. Future developments are expected to focus on scaling natural language search capabilities while maintaining transparency and trust in AI-driven recommendations.
