Dubai: New 500-metre World Trade Centre bridge cuts travel time to two minutes
Infrastructure upgrade improves connectivity and reduces congestion in central Trade Centre district
DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a 500-metre bridge as part of the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, reinforcing ongoing upgrades to Dubai’s road infrastructure.
The new structure is designed to improve traffic movement for vehicles travelling outbound from Al Bada’ towards 2nd December Street, with onward connectivity to Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mustaqbal Street. It forms part of a wider strategy to enhance road network efficiency, ease congestion, and support Dubai’s urban growth.

The development is aligned with efforts to improve mobility in one of the city’s most strategic districts near Sheikh Zayed Road, a key arterial corridor, reducing travel friction for commuters and freight movement across central Dubai.
Traffic flow
The newly opened single-lane bridge extends around 500 metres and is capable of handling up to 1,200 vehicles per hour. It significantly improves outbound movement from Al Bada’ towards Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mustaqbal Street, cutting journey times from eight minutes to just two minutes.
The structure is part of a sequence of bridges already delivered under the project, bringing additional capacity and smoother distribution of traffic within the Trade Centre area. According to RTA, the enhancement supports better traffic dispersal towards major corridors, including 2nd December Street, reducing pressure on surrounding intersections.
The bridge also complements earlier phases of the development, which included three previously opened bridges aimed at strengthening connectivity across key routes in central Dubai’s busy transport network.
The World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project comprises six bridges with a total length of 5,000 metres, designed to enable free-flow movement across multiple directions. In earlier phases, RTA opened a bridge in February 2026 linking Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, further strengthening east-west connectivity. In December 2025, two bridges were inaugurated to serve traffic from 2nd December Street towards Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Majlis Street, extending towards Al Mustaqbal Street. These two bridges together measure approximately 2,000 metres and provide a combined capacity of around 6,000 vehicles per hour.
The project also includes constructing additional dual-lane bridges linking Al Majlis Street and Sheikh Rashid Road with 2nd December Street, improving access to Al Mustaqbal Street. Furthermore, the plan involves converting a signalised intersection on 2nd December Street into a free-flow junction and transforming the existing World Trade Centre Roundabout into a signalised at-grade intersection to optimise traffic movement across the corridor.
