Need to renew your Indian passport in UAE? Here’s the new appointment process
Official portal replaces third-party booking system
ABU DHABI/DUBAI – Indian passport holders in the UAE seeking passport renewal services must now follow a new appointment process introduced by the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
The updated system comes after the Indian missions ended their association with previous outsourced service providers and shifted passport, visa and attestation services to their own premises. The move also means applicants can no longer rely on walk-in services for routine passport renewals in Dubai and must secure an appointment through the official online portal.

The latest guidance follows confirmation that the rollout of Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) services by Tours & Travels, originally scheduled to begin on July 1, has been temporarily deferred until further notice because of administrative reasons communicated by the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi.
Online booking
Indian nationals can now reserve their appointments free of charge through the official portal at book.passportindiauae.com. Authorities have stressed that no fee is charged for booking an appointment and no third party has been authorised to collect money for this service.
Applicants can complete the booking by following these steps:
- Visit the official appointment portal.
- Register using your name, email address and password.
- Verify your email address.
- Log in to your account.
- Select your consular jurisdiction, either the Consulate General of India in Dubai or the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi.
- Enter the required personal details.
- Choose an available appointment slot.
- Confirm the booking.
The Indian missions have also stated that appointment slots are released through the portal, allowing applicants to reserve available dates for passport, visa and attestation services.
Before visiting
Booking an appointment is only one part of the process. Applicants must complete the passport application form online before arriving for their appointment.
The passport application form is available through the Passport Seva portal for Indian missions overseas. Officials have advised applicants to carefully read all instructions before uploading photographs, signatures and supporting documents.
Passport applicants should also ensure that signatures or thumb impressions are uploaded correctly against a plain white background. A printed copy of the completed application form, along with all required supporting documents, must be carried to the appointment to avoid delays.
The Indian missions have also informed applicants that passport fees, revised from July 1, 2026, are accepted only in cash. Applicants are advised to carry the exact amount to facilitate quicker processing.
Important changes
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai have made it clear that BLS International and SGIVS Global are no longer authorised to provide passport, visa or attestation services on their behalf from July 1, 2026.
Officials have warned the public not to pay money to these companies or to any individual or agency claiming to arrange appointments on behalf of the Indian missions.
Any claims of authorisation made by third parties have been described as false and unauthorised. People who believe they have been overcharged, misled or misinformed are encouraged to report such incidents directly to the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of India in Dubai through official communication channels.
Entry rules
Applicants holding confirmed appointments will be permitted to enter the embassy or consulate premises only 15 minutes before their scheduled time.
To minimise crowding, only applicants will generally be allowed inside. The exception applies to applications for minors, where both parents are required to be present.
In Abu Dhabi, passport, visa and attestation applicants must enter through the Embassy's main gate on Al Safarat Street. In Dubai, applicants should use Gate No. 1 at the Consulate General of India.
Walk-in services
Routine passport renewal applicants should note that walk-in services are no longer available at the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
Limited walk-in services continue at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi between 9am and 11am. According to the Indian mission, priority during these hours will be given to newborn cases and applications for Emergency Certificates, while all other applicants are expected to secure appointments online before visiting the embassy or consulate.
