Abu Dhabi Civil Defence wins global honour for sustainable fire safety system
NFPA honours authority's integrated approach to prevention and community protection
ABU DHABI – The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has received international recognition from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for its efforts to develop a sustainable fire safety and prevention system across the emirate.
The honour was announced during the NFPA Conference & Expo 2026 in the United States. The recognition highlights Abu Dhabi's growing role in shaping modern fire prevention strategies built on internationally recognised standards and best practices.
During the conference's opening session, the NFPA highlighted the authority's strategic initiative to establish an integrated fire prevention system for Abu Dhabi, developed in line with the association's globally recognised codes and frameworks.
Global recognition
In the presence of international experts, decision-makers and specialists, the NFPA reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the comprehensive project in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority. The initiative aims to create an integrated and sustainable fire prevention system that combines the latest technological innovations with internationally recognised safety standards.
The association also honoured the authority's delegation attending the conference and accompanying international exhibition, recognising its contribution to strengthening fire safety and prevention systems in Abu Dhabi in accordance with global best practices.
The participation delivered several strategic outcomes that reinforce Abu Dhabi's international standing and strengthen its position as a strategic partner in the development of advanced safety and prevention systems, further enhancing its competitiveness in civil protection.
Knowledge exchange
On the sidelines of the event, members of the authority's delegation took part in three specialised panel discussions covering major challenges and emerging trends in fire safety, community risk reduction and life safety. The sessions provided opportunities to exchange expertise with leading international specialists while expanding professional collaboration.
The delegation also attended 34 specialised workshops and technical sessions, exploring the latest international codes, evolving standards, technological innovations and best practices in fire prevention and safety. The participation supports the authority's ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional excellence and improve future readiness.
Latest innovations
As part of the conference programme, the delegation visited the international exhibition, where members reviewed advanced equipment, smart systems and emerging technologies used in fire prevention, detection, alarm systems, firefighting and emergency response.
The delegation also explored opportunities to incorporate these innovations into future initiatives aimed at enhancing operational capabilities.
