Central Dubai eases congestion with new bridge openings
DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened two new bridges at the Trade Centre Roundabout, part of a major Dh696 million redevelopment project aimed at easing traffic in central Dubai.
The bridges, each with two lanes in both directions and a combined length of 2,000 metres, link 2nd December Street to Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Majlis Street. Their opening reduces journey times from 10 minutes to 2 and cuts delays from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds.
The project forms part of a larger plan to construct five bridges and convert the existing roundabout into an at-grade intersection, enhancing connectivity between Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, and other key streets. It serves Dubai World Trade Centre, DIFC, Downtown Dubai, and surrounding residential areas, benefiting over 500,000 residents and visitors.
Future phases will include additional bridges and the development of Al Mustaqbal Street, further increasing capacity and improving traffic flow.
