DUBAI – Travellers flying from the UAE are being advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport as airlines continue to adjust selected Gulf services despite signs of a possible diplomatic breakthrough in the Middle East.
US President Donald Trump said he had cancelled a planned military strike against Iran after Tehran and "other Middle Eastern countries" requested more time to finalise the framework of a peace agreement. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Israel had also joined the commitment and said the proposed deal would include the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and measures to eliminate Iran's nuclear threat.
Despite the announcement, airlines continue to monitor the regional security situation closely, with selected routes to Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia remaining affected. UAE airports, meanwhile, are operating normally as they handle the summer holiday travel rush.
Thousands of passengers are expected to travel through Dubai International Airport, Zayed International Airport and other UAE airports this weekend, prompting airlines and airport authorities to advise travellers to arrive early and allow extra time for airport procedures.
Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways has maintained operational cancellations on selected Gulf routes.

Passengers booked on affected flights are advised to update their contact details through Etihad's official channels to receive notifications regarding schedule changes or alternative travel arrangements.

Emirates continues to operate most scheduled services but has cancelled selected flights to Kuwait and Bahrain.

flydubai
flydubai has not announced any significant operational changes and continues to operate scheduled services across its network.
Passengers are nevertheless advised to check flight status before travelling, complete online check-in where possible, allow additional time to reach the airport during the busy holiday period and monitor official airline channels for any updates.
International airlines
Several international carriers continue to adjust operations because of regional security concerns.
Oman Air has warned of delays on some flights following temporary airspace restrictions and operational challenges. The airline said affected passengers will be contacted through WhatsApp, email or SMS and alternative flights may be arranged where available.
IndiGo has also advised passengers that flight schedules may change because of the evolving Middle East situation and urged travellers to verify flight status before leaving for the airport.
Saudia confirmed that all cancellations and schedule adjustments have been updated in its reservation system through the end of October 2026.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways continues to suspend passenger services to Bahrain, Erbil and Kuwait. Passengers are advised to monitor the airline's official communication channels for updates.
Other international carriers maintaining service suspensions include British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, ITA Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss, Aegean Airlines, Air Astana, KLM, Philippine Airlines, while Turkish Airlines has resumed Dubai and Abu Dhabi flights but continues to suspend services to Iran. Wizz Air expects to resume Dubai and Abu Dhabi operations during September.
What travellers need to know
The US State Department continues to advise Americans travelling in the Middle East, including the UAE, to prepare for possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and wider travel disruption. The advisory also urges US citizens to consider departing the region, or be prepared to leave, should the security situation deteriorate.
Passengers travelling from the UAE today should check their flight status before leaving for the airport, monitor airline websites and mobile applications for the latest updates, keep travel documents readily available and allow extra time for check-in and security procedures.
Passengers departing from UAE airports are advised to:
- Arrive at least three hours before departure.
- Check flight status before leaving home.
- Allow additional time for road traffic, check-in, security screening and immigration.
- Complete online check-in where available.
- Ensure airlines have their latest contact details for real-time notifications.
Travellers using Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport can also use the Dubai Metro, which operates from 5am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 5am to 1am on Friday, and 8am to midnight on Sunday.
