DUBAI – The UAE Lottery has revealed the identity of the winner of its first-ever Dh30 million Grand Prize, ending days of speculation surrounding the person behind the record-breaking jackpot.

Abu Dhabi-based Nepalese resident Tayab Khan secured the life-changing prize after matching all six winning numbers and the Lucky Number in the Lucky Day Draw held on May 27.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for the lottery's revamped format, which introduced the Dh30 million Grand Prize after replacing the previous Dh100 million jackpot structure.

Historic win

Khan became an overnight multi-millionaire after selecting seven numbers that perfectly matched the winning combination. The UAE Lottery had initially disclosed only part of his name, referring to him as Tayab K**, sparking widespread curiosity among participants and followers of the draw.

According to the lottery operator, Khan's victory makes him the second Grand Prize winner in the history of the Lucky Day Draw. The first jackpot winner under the previous Dh100 million format was Abu Dhabi resident and Indian expatriate Anil Kumar Anilkumar Bolla, who won the top prize in October 2025.

The latest jackpot follows another major win earlier this year when the draw on April 29 produced the second-ever Dh5 million winner.

Surprise discovery

Unlike many lottery winners who closely follow draw results, Khan was unaware that he had struck the jackpot when the numbers were announced.

Speaking about the moment he discovered the news, he said he had selected his numbers randomly and was not even watching the draw. Instead, he learned about the win later through an email notification.

Describing his reaction, Khan said he felt “absolutely amazing” and compared the experience to being “in the sky”. He added that finding out through email made the moment even more memorable.

The UAE Lottery has not yet released a photograph of the winner and is expected to share additional details following a recorded interview.

Lucky Day

A spokesperson for The UAE Lottery described the result as an important moment for the Lucky Day Draw, highlighting that it represents the second Grand Prize winner since the Dh100 million jackpot era and follows two Dh5 million winners.

Lucky Day Draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 9.30pm. Each draw offers participants the chance to win the Dh30 million Grand Prize, a Dh5 million second prize and three guaranteed Lucky Chance prizes worth Dh50,000 each.

Lottery officials said the twice-weekly draws continue to focus on providing meaningful prize opportunities while maintaining a secure and transparent experience for participants across the UAE.
