Dubai temporarily lifts truck restrictions on most roads
Airport and Al Shindagha tunnels remain restricted
DUBAI – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police General Headquarters have announced that trucks will be permitted to use all roads across the emirate around the clock until Wednesday evening.
The temporary measure is aimed at supporting the logistics sector and ensuring the smooth flow of supply chains throughout Dubai.
Authorities said the step reflects continued efforts to facilitate commercial movement during a busy operational period.
The decision allows unrestricted truck movement across most of Dubai’s road network for the specified period. Officials noted that the initiative is part of wider efforts to enhance operational efficiency for transport and logistics companies and to maintain the emirate’s fast-paced commercial activity.
The authorities emphasised that enabling trucks to move freely is expected to help companies manage deliveries more effectively while maintaining supply chain continuity across key sectors.
Exempt areas
Despite the temporary relaxation, the Airport Tunnel and Al Shindagha Tunnel remain excluded from the decision. Existing traffic restrictions in these two corridors will stay in force to safeguard road safety and maintain smooth traffic flow in areas considered highly sensitive to congestion.
Officials stressed that the exclusions are necessary to preserve the operational integrity of these critical routes while still providing broader flexibility elsewhere in the network.
What’s next
RTA and Dubai Police confirmed that the standard truck restriction regulations will resume on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in line with approved rules and procedures. The authorities have urged truck drivers and transport companies to adhere strictly to traffic instructions and applicable regulations during the temporary window.
They also called for full cooperation with relevant authorities to help maintain the highest standards of road safety and ensure seamless traffic movement across Dubai’s roads.
