Emirates Post unveils four commemorative stamps at Dubai 2026 World Stamp Exhibition
Global collectors gather in UAE as rare stamps take centre stage
DUBAI – Emirates Post has issued a series of four commemorative stamps to mark the opening of the Dubai 2026 World Stamp Exhibition, unveiled in collaboration with the Emirates Philatelic Association.
The release coincides with the start of the landmark exhibition, which brings the global philatelic community to the UAE. The initiative underscores the role of postage stamps as cultural records and tools of international exchange.
The commemorative issues align with Emirates Post’s efforts to promote specialist, knowledge-based hobbies and to reinforce the UAE’s standing on the international exhibition circuit. Officials highlighted the postage stamp’s ability to document civilisational milestones while connecting communities across borders through shared heritage and collecting traditions.
Dubai 2026 World Stamp Exhibition
The first stamp, issued on the opening day, commemorates the Emirates Philatelic Association’s hosting of the Dubai 2026 World Stamp Exhibition. It is the first world-level stamp exhibition of its kind to be held in the Arab region and West Asia, marking a significant moment for regional philately.
The exhibition has attracted participation from 76 countries, alongside the United Nations Postal Administration and the Universal Postal Union. A dedicated competition for postal administrations is being held under internationally recognised standards. Thousands of rare and valuable stamps from across the world are on display, offering collectors and specialists a platform for cultural dialogue and the exchange of expertise.
The Emirates Philatelic Association has played a central role in developing philately in the UAE, strengthening the international visibility of Emirati stamps through exhibitions, educational initiatives and seminars. Its work has supported institutional frameworks that align with the country’s broader cultural development.
50th anniversary
The second stamp in the series commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately, founded in Singapore in 1974. The non-profit and non-political federation represents philatelic societies across Asia and Australasia. The issue recognises five decades of efforts to promote stamp collecting, encourage knowledge sharing and support specialised exhibitions throughout the region.
A third commemorative stamp marks the centenary of the International Federation of Philately, established in 1926. Now comprising more than 90 member countries and three associate country members, the Federation is recognised as a leading global authority in philately. The stamp highlights its role in raising exhibition standards and endorsing events under internationally approved criteria.
Association journey
The fourth and final stamp honours the journey of the Emirates Philatelic Association itself, recognising its contribution to advancing philately and strengthening the presence of UAE stamps locally and internationally. Established under Ministerial Resolution No. 372 dated 24 June 1996, the Association has expanded participation and fostered a specialised community at both national and international levels.
Emirates Post said the commemorative issues reflect the intersection of postal communication and cultural expression, documenting key milestones and conveying the UAE’s national narrative to collectors, institutions and stakeholders worldwide.
