Distance learning extended for UAE schools and universities until Friday
Ministries say precautionary measure remains necessary
ABU DHABI – The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) have announced the extension of distance learning across the country until Friday, March 6, 2026.
The move keeps students and staff in remote mode as authorities continue to assess the situation. Officials said the measure covers the entire education sector nationwide.
The extension applies to all public and private schools as well as universities, ensuring continuity of learning while precautionary steps remain in place. Academic and administrative staff are also included under the directive.

According to the two ministries, the decision affects every level of the education system, from school pupils to university students. Both public and private institutions must continue delivering lessons remotely until the end of the specified period.
Education authorities emphasised that the arrangement is temporary and subject to ongoing review. Institutions have already been instructed to maintain full readiness for distance delivery, including digital platforms and remote administrative operations.

The ministries confirmed they are closely tracking developments and will take any further action deemed necessary. The priority, officials said, remains the safety and wellbeing of students, educators and the wider academic community.
