Etihad resumes Hong Kong flights, expands network with new Tunis service
Algiers route opens on 7 November, boosting North Africa connectivity
ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways has expanded its international network this November with the launch of two strategic routes linking Abu Dhabi to Africa and Asia.
The national carrier of the UAE began direct flights to Tunis, Tunisia, on 1 November 2025 and has officially returned to Hong Kong today (4 November 2025) after a multi-year hiatus.
A third service to Algiers, Algeria, will follow on 7 November, underscoring Etihad’s renewed focus on reconnecting major cultural and commercial destinations.
New Tunis route
Etihad’s new Abu Dhabi-Tunis route marks a key step in strengthening its North African presence. Operated with the fuel-efficient Airbus A321LR, the service currently runs three times a week. Flights depart Abu Dhabi at approximately 02:50, arriving in Tunis at 06:50 local time, while the return leg leaves Tunis at around 10:20, touching down in Abu Dhabi at 19:10.
The route offers travellers from the UAE direct access to the Tunisian capital’s historic medinas and Mediterranean coastline, while opening a convenient gateway for North African passengers to connect through Abu Dhabi to Asia and the Middle East. The service also supports growing business and leisure demand between the two regions.
Return to Hong Kong
Etihad’s return to Hong Kong restores a vital connection between Abu Dhabi and one of Asia’s most dynamic aviation hubs. The inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight landed at Hong Kong International Airport this morning to a warm welcome from airport authorities and airline partners.
The carrier will now operate five flights a week, offering 28 Business Class and 262 Economy Class seats. Javier Alija, Etihad’s Vice President of Global Sales and Distribution, described the return as a “relaunch” for the airline, confirming that demand has been strong with the first flight fully booked. The route also enhances access to Macau and the Greater Bay Area, reinforcing Etihad’s growing Asian network.
Algiers next
Rounding off a busy month of expansion, Etihad will inaugurate direct flights to Algiers on 7 November 2025.
