Etihad Airways resumes summer flights to Zanzibar from Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways is set to bring back a much-loved destination with the launch of seasonal flights to Zanzibar, the Indian Ocean’s famed spice island.
The service will run from 14th June until 6th September 2026, offering four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Zanzibar.
The move gives travellers access to palm-fringed beaches, coral reefs, and vibrant Swahili culture, all within easy reach.
Etihad flights to Zanzibar
Zanzibar becomes Etihad’s 30th destination announced this year, underlining the airline’s accelerated global growth. The decision to reinstate the route follows the strengthening of Etihad’s European network, with multiple double-daily services now feeding Abu Dhabi.
Two major European banks ensure seamless connections in both directions, making the route particularly accessible for travellers from Europe and the GCC.
Flights will be operated using Etihad’s Airbus A320, featuring both Business and Economy cabins designed for comfort on medium-haul journeys. The seasonal service is timed to capture high summer demand for Zanzibar, complementing Etihad’s expanding network of leisure destinations.

Part of Tanzania’s idyllic archipelago, Zanzibar is renowned for its UNESCO-listed Stone Town, spice plantations, and dazzling beaches. The island offers a blend of relaxation and adventure, from diving in vibrant coral reefs to exploring centuries-old alleyways. It also serves as a gateway to East Africa’s safari hotspots, making it an ideal twin-centre holiday when paired with the Serengeti or Kilimanjaro.
With Palma de Mallorca also joining the airline’s network this summer, travellers now have the option of Mediterranean retreats or Indian Ocean escapes. Tickets are already available at the official website and via the mobile app.
