DUBAI: Hong Kong is making a bold move to capture the hearts of Gulf travellers, thanks to a new strategic partnership with musafir.com, the UAE’s pioneering travel platform.

The city, famous for its skyline, dim sum, and cultural mashup of East and West, is ready to welcome GCC tourists with a suite of tailored experiences.

The partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) was inked at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, signalling a new era of travel engagement between Hong Kong and the Middle East.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalised by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Thani, Chairman and Co-Founder of musafir.com, and Becky Ip, Deputy Executive Director of HKTB. Also present were Sachin Gadoya, CEO and Co-Founder of musafir.com, and Rosanna Law, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong SAR Government. The partnership is designed to deliver Arabic-language support, exclusive packages, and a seamless booking journey via a dedicated page on musafir.com.

Luxury and halal

Hong Kong is positioning itself as a premium, Muslim-friendly destination. Ranked 4th in the Mastercard-Crescent Rating Global Muslim Travel Index 2024 among non-OIC destinations, the city has ramped up its Halal offerings, with over 160 Halal-certified restaurants as of February 2025. Prayer facilities and luxury services are part of the new “Travel in Luxe Hong Kong” programme – which includes VIP Disneyland access, private shopping concierge services, and even helicopter tours over Victoria Harbour.

The new travel packages from musafir.com are expected to feature flights, luxury hotels, curated itineraries, and Arabic-speaking assistance, catering to both families and individual travellers.

“Our partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board is rooted in a shared vision: to offer meaningful and unforgettable journeys for our customers,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Thani. “Hong Kong’s blend of heritage, modernity, and premium experiences makes it an ideal destination for GCC travellers seeking both adventure and indulgence.”

Tailored experiences

Sachin Gadoya, CEO and Co-Founder of musafir.com, highlighted the appeal of Hong Kong to Gulf travellers. “With Hong Kong’s increasing halal offerings and its strong commitment to boosting tourism from the GCC region, our collaboration comes at a perfect time,” he said. “From skyscrapers and shopping streets to hiking trails and heritage temples, Hong Kong offers an unmatched variety of experiences.”

Ms. Becky Ip of HKTB noted the significance of this collaboration: “This partnership is a key step in our strategy to elevate Hong Kong as a go-to destination for GCC travellers. The city offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity, ideal for tourists seeking cultural richness and adventure.”

GCC travellers can look forward to:

  • Family attractions like Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park, and the new Water World Ocean Park
  • Cultural landmarks such as Man Mo Temple and Tai Kwun – Centre for Heritage and Arts
  • Natural escapes across 260+ islands and scenic hikes like the Dragon’s Back Trail
  • Luxury travel options with five-star dining, spa retreats, and world-class shopping
  • Culinary diversity ranging from Michelin-starred dim sum to street food stalls in Mong Kok

The partnership combines musafir.com's regional expertise with Hong Kong’s diverse tourism offerings, targeting GCC tourists with curated campaigns in Arabic, simplifying the travel planning process and enhancing on-ground experiences.

Founded in 2007 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Thani and Sachin Gadoya, musafir.com operates in the UAE, Qatar, India, and Saudi Arabia, offering flights to over 3,000 destinations and hotel stays across 1 million properties worldwide. It manages corporate travel for more than 1,000 companies and serves as a GSA partner for Fly Egypt and Salam Air.
