Abu Dhabi Extreme announces first-ever global championship in Moscow
Russian arena readies to host elite fighters from Central Asia and Brazil
DUBAI: In a strategic move to extend its international reach, Abu Dhabi Extreme has announced that the 10th edition of its Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling Championship will be held in Moscow, Russia, on 31 May.
This marks the first time the championship will take place in Eastern Europe, following its successful ninth edition in Paris last April.
Organisers say the event will spotlight Russia’s deep-rooted legacy in combat sports while opening new doors for talent across Central Asia.
Where will it take place?
The championship will be staged at Moscow’s legendary Dynamo Arena, known for hosting world-class sporting events. Elite athletes from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are set to compete, alongside celebrated Brazilian grapplers renowned on the international circuit.
Moscow’s combat sports legacy
Abu Dhabi Extreme cited Russia’s global reputation in wrestling, Sambo, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a key reason for selecting Moscow. With icons like Khabib Nurmagomedov emerging from its ranks, Russia offers both a passionate fan base and a strong athlete pipeline.
Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), revealed that the upcoming edition features a highly curated roster of world-ranked fighters. “The match card includes unprecedented bouts across Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, and MMA. We anticipate massive local engagement, given Russia’s rich combat culture,” he said.
