Passenger attacks Indian airline's staff at Kashmir airport over baggage row
A passenger – reported to be a senior Indian Army officer – allegedly assaulted four SpiceJet employees at Srinagar International Airport, after being asked to pay for excess cabin baggage.
The passenger was reportedly carrying 16kg, more than double the allowed 7kg limit, and refused to pay the charges. He then forcefully bypassed security and entered the aerobridge, leading to his escort back by CISF personnel.
The situation escalated when he allegedly physically attacked the staff using punches, kicks, and a queue stand.
One employee suffered a spinal fracture, while others sustained serious jaw and facial injuries.
SpiceJet filed an FIR, submitted CCTV footage to police, and began proceedings to place the officer on a no-fly list.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has been notified, but no public response has been issued yet.
The incident went viral on social media, raising broader concerns about aviation security and staff safety.
