Ramadan 2026: Kuwait announces new working hours for employees
Morning start times flexible between 8:30am and 10:30am
DUBAI – Kuwait’s Civil Service Commission has unveiled official working hours for public sector employees during Ramadan 2026.
The announcement outlines flexible morning start times, shortened workdays, and adjusted evening shifts for government staff.
These changes are expected to affect both employees and residents accessing government services during the holy month.

Morning shifts
Under the new schedule, the official workday will last four and a half hours. Employees may begin their shifts anytime between 8:30am and 10:30am, providing flexibility for both staff and service users. The Civil Service Commission noted that individual government entities can determine specific start and end times to meet operational requirements.
Evening timings
For departments operating evening shifts, work must also total four and a half hours. Shifts must not start earlier than 6:45pm. Female employees are granted an additional 15-minute grace period at both the start and end of their shifts, ensuring alignment with existing civil service regulations.
Service access
Residents relying on government services are advised to plan ahead, as office hours will be shorter than usual throughout Ramadan. The Civil Service Commission emphasised that all government bodies must adhere to the approved schedules to maintain consistency during the holy month.
