Hilton opens its first luxury hotel in the heart of Paris
Neo-Gothic landmark transformed into luxury property
DUBAI: Hilton has announced the opening of Sax Paris, LXR Hotels & Resorts, its first luxury hotel in the heart of Paris.
Situated in the prestigious 7th arrondissement, the 118-room property is housed in a meticulously restored neo-Gothic building, originally built in 1899. The opening also marks the debut of the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand in France.
Owned and developed by French real estate company Compagnie de Phalsbourg, Sax Paris joins a global portfolio of handpicked LXR properties. The hotel combines the historic elegance of the Rive Gauche with modern luxury, offering panoramic views of the city skyline. It invites guests into a setting where art, design, and Parisian lifestyle come together seamlessly.
Sax Paris was formerly the Ségur telephone exchange, now reimagined as a refined destination for travellers and locals alike. The hotel blends the cultural heritage of the Left Bank with contemporary sophistication, featuring two signature restaurants, a cocktail bar, wellness amenities, and flexible event spaces.
Landmark transformation
Simon Vincent CBE, president for Europe, Middle East & Africa at Hilton, highlighted the significance of this opening. “Sax Paris, LXR Hotels & Resorts epitomises modern luxury, elevating the guest experience within the beautiful surroundings of this reimagined Parisian landmark,” he said. “As we surpass 1,000 operating hotels across EMEA, this latest addition marks our first luxury hotel in central Paris.”
Feisal Jaffer, global head of LXR Hotels & Resorts, described the launch as a defining moment. “Paris is a city of timeless allure, making it the perfect setting for LXR’s expansion into new, culturally rich destinations,” he noted. “We remain dedicated to curating independent, one-of-a-kind hotels that offer deeply personal and transformative experiences.”
Philippe Journo, founder and executive chairman of Compagnie de Phalsbourg, praised the hotel’s growing appeal. “Sax Paris has already set itself as one of the trendiest venues in Paris. The hotel fully embodies our vision of luxury lifestyle in the heart of the city’s 7th arrondissement,” he said.
Art-inspired interiors
Designed by Karine Journo and her studio, the hotel pays tribute to Left Bank culture with a modern interpretation. The entry, named The Galerie, serves as a social hub with 200 mirrors and Baccarat chandeliers. Beyond it lies the SAX Garden, a tranquil space inspired by romantic French gardens, featuring a heated pool and jacuzzi.
The property integrates notable art installations throughout. Sculptor Arik Levy’s crystal piece Rockstone adorns the garden entrance, while street artist Sto's mural graces the ceiling of one restaurant, referencing the building’s République Française origins.
Accommodation is designed with neutral palettes, natural materials, and marble finishes. Rooms include connecting options for families and private terraces in select suites. Three signature suites—The Studio, The Winter Garden Suite, and The Signature Suite—feature in-room cocktail stations and minibars stocked with Parisian goods through a collaboration with Le Bon Marché’s La Grande Épicerie de Paris.
Dining above Paris
Sax Paris presents two distinct culinary experiences. Restaurant Le SAX, led by Executive Chef David Maroleau, serves brunch, lunch, and dinner in an all-day setting. Maroleau, known for his leadership in Michelin-starred kitchens, offers a menu that celebrates the pleasures of French cuisine.
Kinugawa Rive Gauche, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, is a two-storey venue overlooking Paris. Operated by the Kinugawa brand, it merges Japanese culinary art with Parisian ambience. The cocktail bar introduces traditional flavours such as shiso and yuzu into classic Parisian mixes.
Curated guest experiences
Sax Paris offers exclusive experiences through Hilton’s Pursuit of Adventure programme. The concierge team curates personalised activities, such as a gourmet picnic overlooking Les Invalides, behind-the-scenes access to the Eiffel Tower, and private pontoon cruises on the Seine.
Fitness & Spa SAX Le Club caters to guests and members. It operates 24/7, equipped with Technogym machines, treatment rooms, sauna, and hammam. Designer bicycles and bespoke pet-friendly services are also available to enhance the guest experience.
Guests enrolled in Hilton Honors can access exclusive benefits. These include a flexible payment slider using Points and cash, discounts, free standard Wi-Fi, and mobile app features.
Centrally located luxury
Sax Paris is located at 55 Avenue de Saxe, within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, Musée d’Orsay, and Jardin du Luxembourg. It is easily accessible via Sèvres-Lecourbe and Duroc metro stations. The hotel’s position allows visitors to immerse themselves in the culture and charm of the Rive Gauche.
