Pakistan, UAE strengthen ties through governance and innovation exchange
Dubai meeting sets stage for shared progress in public sector efficiency
DUBAI: Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s envoy to the UAE, met Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange, during a key engagement held in Dubai yesterday.
The ambassador acknowledged the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between the two nations and praised the UAE’s leadership for fostering an inclusive and forward-looking environment.
He also lauded the UAE for embracing global communities, including the Pakistani diaspora that plays a significant role in the Emirates' socio-economic fabric.
Pakistan delegation in UAE
Ambassador Tirmizi extended his appreciation to the UAE Government for hosting a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Minister of State for Finance and Railways and Head of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit.
The delegation is participating in a two-day programme on 8 and 9 July, aimed at exchanging best practices in governance and public service delivery.
The sessions are being conducted in collaboration with several UAE ministries and authorities, with a strong focus on innovation and efficiency.
Commitment to collaboration
Abdulla Nasser Lootah reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing commitment to strengthening cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in areas of governance reform, public sector competitiveness, and innovation. He noted Pakistan’s substantial potential across various sectors and expressed readiness to offer full support in joint efforts. Lootah underscored the value of shared learning to devise practical solutions for common challenges.
Ambassador Tirmizi highlighted Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s strong interest in adopting elements of the UAE’s tax automation systems to boost domestic revenue collection. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s directive to make the most of this opportunity for meaningful knowledge exchange.
