DUBAI – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended part of the fourth edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, held in Dubai today.

The three-day event has brought together 30,000 content creators from around the world, making it the largest gathering dedicated to the creator economy. During his visit, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed witnessed the graduation of 522 content creators and new media specialists who completed seven specialised programmes aimed at developing young talent in the fast-growing digital media sector.

On his official X account, Sheikh Mohammed said he had witnessed part of the activities of the Summit and welcomed the participants to the United Arab Emirates. He described content creation as a message and a responsibility, noting that it plays a role in moving societies towards progress, inspiring generations, creating economic opportunities and shaping a better future.

Graduation ceremony

The graduation ceremony was one of the highlights of the fourth edition of the Summit, recognising 522 graduates who completed seven targeted programmes designed to build skills in digital storytelling, social media strategy, emerging technologies and responsible content production. These programmes were developed as part of the Summit’s wider mission to nurture young creators and professionals who can contribute to the growth of the digital media industry across the region and globally.

The graduates joined thousands of participants attending sessions across Dubai’s key venues, including Emirates Towers, the Dubai International Financial Centre and the Museum of the Future. The Summit is organised by the UAE Government Media Office and is being held under the theme ‘Content for Good’, which reflects its focus on using digital platforms to create positive social and economic impact.

1 Billion Followers Summit

The 1 Billion Followers Summit is hosting more than 500 speakers, including over 150 chief executives and global experts, with a combined online following of 3.5 billion people. Across the three days, the programme includes more than 580 keynote speeches, roundtables, fireside chats, workshops and debates. These sessions are spread across three main tracks: Economy, Content and Technology, giving creators and industry leaders opportunities to exchange ideas and address the challenges facing the digital media landscape.

The Summit has become a central platform for shaping conversations around monetisation, ethics, innovation and the future of online influence. With tens of thousands of creators in attendance, it represents a major meeting point for those working in social media, video platforms, podcasts and emerging digital formats.

Content for Good

The fourth edition of the Summit is built around two main pillars, with the first focusing on the shift from content creation to impact creation through the ‘Content for Good’ approach. As part of this initiative, the Summit partnered with MrBeast, the world’s most-followed YouTuber, to launch the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign. The campaign is supported by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and the Varkey Foundation, and aims to encourage creators and audiences to engage in actions that deliver tangible social benefit.
