What’s the next UAE public holiday after Eid Al Adha 2025?
Eid break ends, but three public holidays are still expected
DUBAI: Following the Eid Al Adha break from June 5 to 8, most UAE residents are now back to their regular work schedules.
While the long weekend is now behind us, attention has shifted to the next official public holiday on the 2025 calendar.
According to UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, three more public holidays are scheduled before the year ends.
Next public holiday in UAE
The next expected public holiday in the UAE will be the Islamic New Year, predicted to fall on Thursday, 26 June 2025. The occasion marks the first day of Muharram in the Hijri calendar and is expected to be a one-day break. As always, the exact date will be confirmed by the UAE’s moon-sighting committee closer to the event.
This holiday, although brief, will provide a mid-week respite for residents across both the public and private sectors. It also marks the beginning of the Islamic year 1447. As per the UAE's regulations, Islamic holidays are determined by lunar observations, so this date remains provisional.
UAE public holidays for 2025
The second upcoming public holiday is the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, forecast for Friday, 5 September 2025. This day, known as Mawlid Al Nabi, falls on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal and is traditionally observed with religious gatherings and remembrance.
If confirmed, this Friday holiday could offer a potential long weekend opportunity, although the exact observance depends again on moon-sighting announcements.
UAE National Day
Finally, the UAE National Day will be celebrated with a two-day break on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2–3 December 2025. These midweek holidays commemorate the formation of the UAE in 1971 and are often marked by fireworks, cultural shows, and nationwide celebrations.
As outlined by Article No. 2 of the Cabinet resolution, non-Eid holidays can be shifted to the beginning or end of the week, though no such changes have been announced yet.
