Emirates resumes Madagascar flights from Dubai
Airline advises passengers to update contact details for travel notifications
DUBAI – Emirates has resumed regular passenger flights between Dubai International Airport and Madagascar, following a short suspension announced at the end of September.
The Dubai-based carrier confirmed on Thursday that its routes to the island nation are now operating as normal.
The temporary halt had affected flights from Dubai to Antananarivo and connections via Mahé’s Seychelles International Airport between September 26 and October 8, due to unrest in Madagascar. The resumption means travellers can once again book seats on the airline’s EK707 and EK708 services.
What flights are operating now?
According to Emirates’ latest travel update, the EK707/708 route linking Dubai, Seychelles, and Antananarivo will continue to operate six times a week, from Tuesday to Sunday. Flights between Dubai and Seychelles were unaffected during the suspension and continue to run as scheduled.
Passengers are advised to confirm their contact details through the Manage Your Booking section on Emirates’ website to ensure they receive the latest updates or any notifications regarding schedule adjustments.
Why were flights suspended?
The earlier flight cancellations followed a period of civil unrest in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo, which led to a night-time curfew. Demonstrations erupted over power and water shortages, prompting the temporary suspension of air services for passenger safety and operational stability.
Flights have now resumed following the easing of local restrictions and the stabilisation of the situation on the ground, according to the airline’s advisory.
Emirates has expressed its appreciation to travellers for their understanding and patience during the disruption. Normal flight operations are expected to continue without further changes.
