UAE simplifies Emirates ID renewal to just one step
Here’s how the new system will save time for citizens
ABU DHABI – The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced a major simplification of Emirates ID services for UAE citizens.
The replacement and renewal of the ID can now be completed in one step instead of multiple procedures.
How will it work?
The system will automatically determine the card’s validity period upon renewal based on the age of the holder, similar to the approach used in Emirates passport services.
Why the change?
This development forms part of ICP’s broader plan to reduce bureaucracy, enhance smart services, and improve community life. The initiative also aims to strengthen the UAE’s leadership and global position in government service efficiency.
Citizens can now access the one-step renewal or replacement service immediately through the updated ICP system, saving both time and administrative effort.
