DUBAIDubai gold rates edged lower on Tuesday, with prices easing across all major purities compared with Monday’s levels, according to data from the Dubai Jewellery Group.

The marginal dip reflects softer global bullion prices as investors remained cautious ahead of key US economic data.

Despite the pullback, retail gold prices in the emirate remain near historically elevated levels.

Dubai gold rates

As of Tuesday, suggested retail gold jewellery prices in Dubai stood at Dh606.50 per gram for 24K gold, down from Dh607.50 on Monday. The 22K rate slipped to Dh561.50 per gram from Dh562.50, while 21K eased to Dh538.50 compared with Dh539.25 a day earlier. Prices for 18K gold fell to Dh461.50 per gram from Dh462.25, and 14K declined slightly to Dh360.00 from Dh360.50.

The movement keeps Dubai gold prices broadly stable after recent highs, with only fractional daily changes recorded across categories.

Global gold markets

In global markets, gold prices weakened on Tuesday but continued to trade above the closely watched $5,000-per-ounce level. Spot gold fell 0.8% to $5,022.57 per ounce by early morning GMT, after gaining around 2% in the previous session. US gold futures for April delivery were down 0.7% at $5,044.80 per ounce.

The dollar remained under pressure, helping cushion gold’s decline, while investors awaited a busy week of US economic releases, including retail sales, nonfarm payrolls and inflation data. Gold previously touched a record high of $5,594.82 on January 29.

Silver and other precious metals

Silver prices showed sharper swings, underlining heightened volatility in the precious metals complex. Spot silver slipped 2.8% to $81.08 per ounce on Tuesday, after surging nearly 7% on Monday. The metal had reached an all-time high of $121.64 late last month.

Elsewhere, spot platinum dropped 2.3% to $2,075.18 per ounce, while palladium fell 1.3% to $1,718.37, reflecting broader weakness across precious metals as markets assessed shifting interest rate expectations.
