DUBAI: e& UAE has officially set a new world record in mobile connectivity, achieving a 600Mbps uplink speed on a live 5G network – marking a major step forward in the evolution of 5G-Advanced.

The milestone, announced on Monday, was reached by aggregating FR1 bands at 2100MHz and C-band, coupled with Uplink 3Tx (three transmit antennas), using a commercial Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). Fully aligned with 3GPP Release 17 standards, this development positions the UAE as a global pioneer in cutting-edge connectivity.

This achievement strengthens the backbone for uplink-heavy digital ecosystems, enabling hyper-fast uploads for applications like real-time video analytics, immersive content creation, and smart city management. It represents a game-changing leap in the global telecommunications landscape.

How was it achieved?

The record was accomplished through band aggregation in FR1 – specifically, the 2100MHz and C-band frequencies – alongside Uplink 3Tx. All testing took place on a live 5G site with commercially available equipment, underscoring its real-world viability.

This setup delivers superior performance in applications requiring swift data transmission from users or devices to networks, including drone surveillance, IoT ecosystems, and advanced manufacturing.

What does it enable?

According to Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, Vice President of Fixed Access Network at e& UAE, “This isn’t just a technological breakthrough – it’s a launchpad for reshaping the digital world.”

With 600Mbps uplink, enterprises can implement AI-powered logistics hubs and smart factories, uploading large volumes of sensor data in real time. Creative professionals can instantly share 8K video and 3D content to platforms like YouTube or TikTok.

In homes, enhanced uplink means smoother cloud gaming, seamless virtual events, and rapid IoT communication – pushing the boundaries of digital interactivity.

How will it impact the future?

The deployment is part of e& UAE’s larger strategy to accelerate the 5G-Advanced rollout, integrating eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband) and URLLC (ultra-reliable low-latency communications).

As commercial CPEs with these capabilities become more widely available, the benefits will expand to both businesses and individuals – turning today’s record into tomorrow’s everyday reality.
