Spring Equinox 2025 in UAE: When it happens, and how to celebrate in Dubai
Dubai to experience equal day and night on March 11
Dubai is set to welcome the arrival of spring on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with the Spring Equinox marking the day when daylight and nighttime hours are perfectly balanced.
This astronomical event signifies the start of longer days and warmer temperatures, making it the perfect opportunity to embrace the great outdoors.
According to the Emirates Astronomy Society, the UAE will experience exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on this day. The sun will rise earlier and set later in the coming weeks, ushering in the seasonal transition towards summer.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, confirmed: “On Tuesday, the UAE will experience equal day and night, with each lasting 12 hours from sunrise to sunset and sunset to sunrise. Following this, the daylight will begin to increase, marking the beginning of the spring season in March.”
With milder temperatures and longer days ahead, now is the perfect time to step outside and make the most of Dubai’s spring season. Here are the best activities to celebrate the equinox and enjoy the changing weather.
Spend the day at beach
Spring in Dubai is an excellent time to enjoy the city’s pristine beaches before the summer heat sets in. Whether you prefer the vibrant atmosphere of Kite Beach or the tranquillity of Al Sufouh Beach, there are plenty of options to soak up the sun. The sea remains refreshingly cool, making it ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply unwinding with a book by the shore.
Explore the mountains of Hatta
For those seeking a break from the city, Hatta offers a perfect escape into nature. Just a 90-minute drive from Dubai, this mountainous region provides scenic hiking trails, kayaking on Hatta Dam, and mountain biking routes through rugged landscapes. With temperatures cooler than the city, it’s an ideal spot for outdoor adventures.
Camp under the stars at Al Qudra
Spring is the perfect time for desert camping, and Al Qudra Lakes remains one of the most popular spots in Dubai. This stunning desert oasis allows visitors to experience breathtaking sunsets, spot local wildlife, and sleep under a sky full of stars. Whether you’re an experienced camper or a first-timer, Al Qudra offers a serene environment to connect with nature.
Hit the greens at Dubai’s golf courses
With pleasant weather and lush fairways, spring is the best time to play a round of golf in Dubai. The city is home to world-renowned golf courses such as Emirates Golf Club, Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Hosting international tournaments like the Dubai Desert Classic, these courses provide a world-class experience for golf enthusiasts of all skill levels.
Discover Dubai’s parks and outdoor attractions
From picnicking at Zabeel Park to cycling along Al Qudra Cycling Track, Dubai offers an array of outdoor activities perfect for spring. Dubai Miracle Garden, home to over 150 million flowers, is in full bloom, providing a vibrant and picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll. Meanwhile, nature lovers can visit Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, where thousands of migratory birds, including flamingos, can be spotted.
Upcoming astronomical events in 2025
Beyond the equinox, sky-watchers can look forward to two major celestial events later in the month:

Partial Solar Eclipse (March 29, 2025): While this will be visible in parts of North America and Europe, it will not be seen from the UAE.
