ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court has concluded the largest no-fault divorce case in Gulf history, awarding a financial settlement exceeding Dhs100 million (US$27.2 million) to a foreign couple previously married in the United Kingdom.
This landmark ruling marks the highest reported divorce settlement in the GCC and underscores Abu Dhabi’s emergence as a globally recognised legal hub for expatriate family matters.
The case was handled under the provisions of the Civil Marriage Law No. 14 of 2021, which introduced civil, non-religious laws for foreigners in the Arab region.
