Eight teams including India and Pakistan compete in UAE for mega cricket tournament
DUBAI – The Asia Cup Cricket Tournament 2025 kicked off yesterday in the UAE, bringing together eight of the continent’s strongest teams.
Matches will take place across Abu Dhabi and Dubai until 28 September, drawing thousands of fans eager to witness the action live.
Preparations by Dubai Police
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and Chairman of the Event Security Committee (ESC), confirmed that all preparations have been completed to secure the championship. He highlighted that the Asian Cricket Council’s decision to select Abu Dhabi and Dubai reflects the UAE’s strong track record in organising international sporting events.
How is security coordinated?
Close coordination between Dubai Police, the organising committee, and event partners has established strict security protocols. The ESC has developed a comprehensive plan covering stadiums, surrounding areas, and patrols to ensure smooth access for players and spectators. Major General Al Mazrouei emphasised teamwork and readiness, praising all committee members for fulfilling their security and administrative responsibilities at the highest organisational level.
Asia Cup 2025
The championship features two groups: Group A includes India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B has Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium will host eight matches, including the Super Four, while Dubai will stage 11 matches, most notably the final on 28 September.
Key fixtures include the high-profile India–Pakistan clash on 14 September in Dubai.
