DUBAI hosted Huawei’s latest product showcase today under the theme Fashion Next, where the tech giant unveiled the HUAWEI Pura 80 Series, the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5, and announced the return of the XMAGE Awards 2025.

The launch event highlighted Huawei’s pursuit of combining cutting-edge innovation with art and aesthetics. A major focus of the event was its commitment to creative communities through the XMAGE platform and its reinvigorated approach to imaging and visual storytelling.

The company also confirmed its participation in Paris Photo 2025, where it will host the XMAGE Awards Ceremony and Annual Exhibition at the historic Grand Palais under the theme The World, You and Me.

Pura 80 Series

The new HUAWEI Pura 80 Series stands out for its flagship imaging capabilities and unique design language. The Ultra model features a 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR camera for exceptional dynamic range and clarity. This is enhanced by Ultra Chroma Camera pixel-level colour calibration, enabling highly accurate colour reproduction in every shot.

In a first for the mobile industry, the Pura 80 Ultra introduces a Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera, blending a large sensor with versatile focal lengths. This innovation allows users to take sharp, detailed photos from various distances, addressing the growing demand for professional-grade mobile photography.

Aesthetically, the series is inspired by traditional monochrome glazes, with colour palettes and surface textures that draw from both eastern minimalism and western elegance. The result is a uniquely glazed finish that reflects Huawei’s craftsmanship and design philosophy.

MatePad 11.5 unveiled

Also launched was the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5, aimed at students, creatives, and professionals. Featuring a 2.5K resolution FullView Display and the PaperMatte technology, the tablet offers an immersive and eye-friendly viewing experience.

Its slim 6.1 mm body houses a 10,100 mAh battery, combining portability with long-lasting use. The tablet also includes the HUAWEI M-Pencil (3rd generation) with magnetic wireless charging, as well as upgraded HUAWEI Notes and the GoPaint app, catering to both productivity and creativity.

XMAGE Awards 2025

A highlight of the event was the announcement of the XMAGE Awards 2025, open to global Huawei mobile users since 11 June.

The competition includes eight thematic categories: So Far So Close, Colour & Shade, Good Night, Faces, A Heartwarming World, Experimental Lab, Storyboard, and Action.

This year introduces a new competition format titled XMAGE 100, alongside an expanded and more diverse judging panel. Submissions will be assessed on technique, emotional depth, social context, and artistic value.

Paris Photo 2025 return

For 2025, Huawei will return to the Grand Palais in Paris for the XMAGE Awards Ceremony and Exhibition during Paris Photo, one of the world’s premier art photography events. This symbolic venue strengthens Huawei’s ties to the global photography community and underlines its commitment to promoting artistic talent.
