Dubai to host first-ever snow duathlon at Ski Dubai this June
Open to participants aged 13 to 60, solo or duo
DUBAI: A frosty new fitness challenge is arriving in Dubai this summer.
On Sunday, June 29, Ski Dubai will host the region’s first-ever Snow Duathlon, inviting athletes to swap desert heat for a sub-zero endurance test.
Organised by Dubai Fitness Council in collaboration with boutique studio CRANK, the event fuses high-intensity cycling with snowy sprints – all under one icy roof.
The format includes a 5 km stationary bike ride followed by a snow run, where participants can choose between two distances: 3 km (three loops) or 5 km (five loops). The event takes place in -4°C conditions, offering an intense but refreshing alternative to traditional summer races.
What is snow duathlon?
A snow duathlon is a two-discipline endurance race typically set in wintry conditions. It blends cycling (or a similar activity like skiing) with running – usually involving a bike leg sandwiched between two runs. However, Dubai’s unique version trims it down to a single cycling leg followed by one snowy run, making it the first of its kind in the Middle East.
How to participate
The race is open to individuals and two-person teams, with eligible ages ranging from 13 to 60. Whether you're going solo or sharing the sweat, every competitor who finishes the course will receive a commemorative medal.
Top three performers in each category will earn podium spots, taking home special prizes.
Entry and registration
Registration is priced at Dh189 and can be completed through PremierOnline. The venue, Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates, offers the perfect setting to beat the summer heat while pushing endurance limits.
