Dubai Metro Blue Line: Full list of 14 stations unveiled
Two routes will link key residential and commercial hubs
DUBAI is preparing for a major leap in public transport connectivity with the upcoming Dubai Metro Blue Line, which will feature 14 new stations across two routes.
Slated to begin operations on September 9, 2029, the Blue Line will extend over 30 kilometres, creating a fast, efficient transit link between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and several high-density residential, commercial, and academic areas.
Construction will officially commence in April 2025, following approval in late 2023. Once operational, the new Metro line is expected to reduce traffic congestion by 20 percent and serve nearly one million residents, significantly enhancing mobility across the city.

Here’s your station-by-station guide to the Dubai Metro Blue Line.
Route 1: Creek to Academic City (21km)
This longer route includes eight stations, beginning at the existing Green Line and running through waterfront developments, innovation hubs, and major residential clusters.
Creek Interchange Station (Al Jaddaf): The starting point on the Green Line, offering interchange access. Al Jaddaf is a waterfront district with views, culture, and easy Green Line connectivity.
Dubai Festival City: Serves one of the city’s major shopping and residential areas with 77,000 residents. A crucial stop for mall-goers and business commuters.
Dubai Creek Harbour (Emaar Properties Station): Set to become the world’s tallest metro station, covering 11,000 sq m and accommodating 160,000 passengers. Features a 1.3km viaduct over the creek.

Ras Al Khor: Located near the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. Ideal for nature lovers and those living in the surrounding industrial and residential zones.
International City 1 (Interchange Station): A key underground interchange point linking both Blue Line routes. Provides access to Dragon Mart and dense residential clusters.
International City 2: Expands metro access further into International City’s residential area. Designed to serve the large South Asian and Chinese expat population.
Dubai Silicon Oasis: An innovation and tech zone under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The station will support the area's transformation into a high-tech residential-commercial hub.
Academic City: Home to major universities and over 50,000 students. Connects to institutions like Heriot-Watt, Middlesex, and the University of Wollongong.
Route 2: Centrepoint to International City (9km)
A shorter but strategic route with four stations, connecting northern Dubai suburbs with the wider metro network.
Centrepoint Interchange Station (Al Rashidiya): Currently the terminal station on the Red Line. This Blue Line interchange will provide access to free car parking and DXB-bound routes.
Mirdif: A suburban area with family-friendly parks and malls like City Centre Mirdif. This stop will ease traffic pressure in the community.
Al Warqa: Serves 60,000 residents and Dubai Safari Park. The Blue Line gives this growing residential area its first metro access.
International City 1 (shared interchange): Repeated from Route 1 as the shared station where both routes meet, offering seamless connectivity across Dubai Metro lines.
Remaining two stations
Al Jaddaf (Green Line Connection): Though part of the Creek Interchange, Al Jaddaf stands as a prominent access point on the Green Line for Blue Line users.
Dubai International Airport (DXB): Exact details are pending, but the Blue Line will offer a direct airport link with journey times of 20 minutes or less. Whether via existing Terminal 1 and 3 stations or a new station is still under consideration.
Dubai Metro Blue Line
With travel times expected between 10 to 25 minutes, the Blue Line aims to provide quick, reliable transport for thousands of daily commuters. It supports Dubai’s long-term vision to grow sustainably, reduce car dependency, and provide modern urban infrastructure tailored to the needs of residents and visitors alike.
The new line will also push the total number of metro and tram stations in the city from 64 to 78 once complete, offering wider coverage across Dubai’s fast-developing eastern and southern zones.
