Dubai private schools get 9-day Eid Al Adha break
Mock examinations scheduled later in June
DUBAI – Dubai’s private schools will observe the Eid Al Adha holiday from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29, according to an announcement made by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority on Tuesday.
Classes across the emirate are scheduled to resume on Monday, June 1.
The break will give students a total of nine days away from classrooms, with May 23, 24, 30 and 31 already falling on regular weekends. The holiday applies to private educational institutions operating under Dubai’s unified academic calendar.
The announcement follows last week’s confirmation by the UAE Ministry of Education regarding third-semester schedules for public schools, including the Eid Al Adha break for students, teaching staff and administrative employees.
Exam schedule
The holiday arrives just before schools enter the final assessment phase of the academic year. According to the approved academic calendar, students will return for the continuation of the third semester before mock examinations begin on June 15 and 16.
The official holiday for the Islamic New Year is expected to fall on June 17. End-of-term examinations are then scheduled to take place from June 24 until July 3, which has been confirmed as the final day of the academic year for students.
Eid Al Adha
Eid Al Adha is expected to begin on Wednesday, May 27, based on astronomical calculations. The Day of Arafah, observed a day earlier on Tuesday, May 26, marks the most significant day of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The projected dates were highlighted by Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences. Final confirmation of Eid dates will depend on the official moon-sighting announcement.
