UAE weather alert: Light rain, dust and rough seas expected this week
Humidity levels to rise, creating muggy overnight conditions
DUBAI – The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a spell of changing weather conditions across the UAE, with light rain, rising humidity and dusty winds expected to affect different parts of the country through the week.
Tuesday is set to bring a mix of fair and partly cloudy skies, with cloud build-up at times, particularly over western areas. These conditions could trigger light rainfall in scattered regions, marking a brief shift from otherwise stable weather patterns.
The outlook reflects a broader transition period, with weather elements fluctuating between showers, mist and wind activity over several days. While rainfall remains light and localised, associated conditions such as reduced visibility and rough seas are expected to have a wider impact.
Rain chances
Cloud cover is expected to increase intermittently, especially across western and southern areas, where light rain may occur. Earlier in the week, similar conditions brought partly cloudy to cloudy skies, along with light to moderate rainfall over coastal, eastern and southern regions. Night-time and early morning hours may also see mist formation in some internal areas as humidity rises.
Tuesday’s conditions will largely mirror this pattern, with rainfall remaining scattered rather than widespread. The changing skies are part of a gradual shift that began at the start of the week and is expected to continue over the coming days.
Wind activity
Winds are forecast to remain light to moderate overall, with speeds ranging between 10 and 25km/h. However, gusts could reach up to 40km/h at times, particularly during the afternoon, leading to blowing dust and sand in open areas. These conditions may reduce horizontal visibility, especially in desert regions.
By midweek, wind speeds are expected to strengthen further, intensifying dusty conditions and contributing to a noticeable drop in visibility. The NCM has indicated that these stronger winds will also influence sea conditions, making marine activity more challenging.
Sea conditions
Marine conditions are expected to deteriorate alongside increasing winds. The Arabian Gulf is forecast to become rough, while the Oman Sea will range from moderate to rough. By Wednesday, seas could turn rough to very rough, particularly in offshore areas, before gradually easing later in the week.
Fishermen and maritime operators are advised to monitor updates closely, as fluctuating wind speeds and sea states may impact navigation.
Temperatures
Temperatures across the UAE will remain relatively mild despite the changing conditions. Daytime highs are expected to reach around 27°C in Abu Dhabi, 26°C in Dubai and 27°C in Sharjah. Inland areas such as Al Ain may see temperatures climb to 30°C, while Fujairah is forecast to be warmer at approximately 34°C.
Night-time temperatures will range between 17°C and 23°C, accompanied by rising humidity levels that could reach up to 85 percent in coastal areas. This increase is likely to create humid conditions overnight and into the early morning hours.
