DUBAI: Iraq’s leading digital payments provider, Qi Card, has joined forces with Turkish Airlines, one of the world’s largest carriers, to launch a co-branded Mastercard debit card in Istanbul.

The move aims to reward 11 million Qi Card holders in Iraq by linking their everyday spending to the airline’s Miles&Smiles loyalty programme, enriching both payment convenience and travel experiences.

With 31 bank partnerships spanning more than 50 countries, Miles&Smiles counts over 20 million members globally. The collaboration will allow these members to access Qi Card’s 17-year-strong digital payments network, enhancing international financial and travel connectivity.

What benefits will cardholders get?

Linked to the Qi Card payment system, the new debit card will enable Iraqi consumers to earn Miles&Smiles rewards directly from daily purchases, while offering a secure and convenient payment experience both in Iraq and abroad.

Perks include a fixed-rate point-to-mile conversion, access to more than 353 destinations in 131 countries via Turkish Airlines and its Star Alliance partners, as well as privileges such as airport lounge entry, seat upgrades, fast-track services, and exclusive bonus mile promotions.

How will the partnership work?

The collaboration merges Qi Card’s local market expertise with Turkish Airlines’ global aviation reach, creating a product that integrates financial ease with world-class travel rewards. The Miles&Smiles Qi Card Mastercard will be accepted wherever Mastercard operates, with full integration into Qi Card’s mobile platform and nationwide network.

“This partnership reflects our shared vision of enriching everyday experiences through smarter financial tools and aspirational travel rewards,” said Bahaa Abdul Hadi, Chairman of International Smart Card (Qi Card). Turkish Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer Ahmet Olmuştur said the initiative reaffirms the airline’s commitment to the Iraqi market.

When will the card be available?

The card will be rolled out soon through Qi Card’s national distribution channels, offering round-the-clock onboarding and customer service.

Following the deal with Turkish Airlines, Qi Card anticipates interest from other Middle East airlines seeking to expand their customer offerings and connect loyalty programmes to financial products for enhanced consumer experiences.
