UAE leaders send greetings to Pakistan on 78th Independence Day
Messages sent to President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Shehbaz Sharif
ABU DHABI: United Arab Emirates (UAE) President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has conveyed warm congratulations to President Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The message marked the 78th anniversary of the country’s independence, celebrated annually on 14 August, and reflected the strong historical ties between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, also sent a similar message to President Zardari.
Additionally, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, extended greetings to both President Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, acknowledging the significance of the national day for the Pakistani people.
Pakistan Independence Day
Pakistan’s Independence Day commemorates the country’s freedom from British colonial rule in 1947 and the establishment of a sovereign homeland for Muslims of the Indian subcontinent. The annual observance is marked by flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural events, and patriotic displays both in Pakistan and among its global diaspora.
The UAE is home to one of the largest Pakistani expatriate communities in the world – around 1.7 million – with strong people-to-people connections and longstanding economic and cultural cooperation between the two nations.
