Eight teams storm into Dubai Games 2026 finals after thrilling Day Two heats
Government entities and community teams tested to limits
DUBAI – Dubai Games 2026 continued to draw crowds at Dubai Festival City on its second day, as eight teams secured coveted spots in the finals of two flagship categories.
The third heat of the Men’s Battle of the Government and a decisive round of the Battle of the Community unfolded before packed spectator zones, delivering high-intensity competition and dramatic finishes. The championship runs from 12 to 15 February, with finals set to take place on Sunday.
A total of 546 players representing 78 teams from local and federal government entities have competed across three heats in the Men’s Battle of the Government category. Over the course of the tournament, teams faced seven innovative obstacles designed to test unity, speed, resilience and strategic thinking under pressure.
Battle of the Government
Day Two concluded with four teams earning qualification for the Men’s Battle of the Government finals following a fiercely contested third heat. Athletes were required to operate as a single unit while navigating complex physical challenges against the clock.
Ajman Government team topped the standings with 123.29 points after a composed and disciplined performance. Abu Dhabi Police followed with 119.4 points, while Dubai Police secured 117.09 points. Department of Digital Ajman clinched the final qualifying spot with 114.59 points.
The obstacle course demanded not only strength and agility but also split-second decision-making and meticulous role allocation. Each segment required teams to move in synchrony, balancing explosive bursts of power with sustained endurance. Margins were tight throughout the heat, with leaderboard positions shifting as teams progressed through the seven-stage circuit.
Abdullah Al Merri, Member of the Dubai Games 2026 Organising Committee, said the Battle of the Government represents the proud legacy of Dubai Games’ origins and reflects its evolution into a world-leading platform showcasing Dubai’s professionalism in delivering major sporting events.
He added that the return of teams from previous editions demonstrates the championship’s standing among elite team challenge athletes worldwide. Several squads have returned with full line-ups this year, drawn by what he described as a distinctive sporting experience. According to Al Merri, Dubai Games 2026 has raised the bar with a newly designed course testing both physical and mental capabilities, alongside seamless team integration.
Battle of the Community
The Battle of the Community also delivered a high-octane heat on Day Two, bringing together teams that advanced from qualification rounds to face last year’s defending champion. The category underscores Dubai’s broader drive to embed sport within everyday life across diverse segments of society.
Four teams progressed to the finals following an action-packed contest. Ajman Stud led the field with 137 points, booking their place with the highest tally of the heat. F3 followed with 134.6 points, while NAS recorded 130.94 points. AJ secured qualification with 130.09 points.
The competition once again highlighted that success at Dubai Games hinges on detailed planning, clarity of roles and decisive execution under pressure. Teams navigated the obstacles with visible coordination, communicating constantly as they tackled strength-based tasks and endurance-driven segments.
Al Merri described the Battle of the Community as the beating heart of Dubai Games, pointing to its sustainable, long-term impact since launch. He said the category has inspired wide sections of the community to adopt sport as a lifestyle, reinforcing Dubai’s ability to transform major events into enduring legacies.
Dubai Games 2026
Dubai Games 2026 is held in official partnership with DP World and benefits from extensive corporate backing. Diamond Partners include DAMAC, Emirates Petroleum Company (Emarat), and BEYOND Developments, reflecting what organisers describe as joint efforts to bring the ethos of One Team, One Spirit to life.
Burhan Al Hashemi of Emirates Petroleum Company said Dubai Games has established itself as a world-leading sporting event uniting multiple competitive categories. He noted that by celebrating discipline, agility and resilience, the championship goes beyond competition to provide participants with a high-standard environment to demonstrate their capabilities. He added that Emarat supports initiatives that position sport as an inspiring community experience.
Adil Taqi, Chief Executive Officer of BEYOND Developments, said sport plays a powerful role in building healthier and more cohesive communities, particularly when challenge and teamwork intersect. He stated that the calibre of teams competing reinforces Dubai Games’ global reputation as a team challenge championship spotlighting outstanding athletic talent.
Ali Sajwani, Managing Director at DAMAC Group, said the event stands out for its ability to inspire the wider community to embrace a more active lifestyle. Sajwani added that the intensity witnessed on Day Two points to further excitement in the coming days.

Festival atmosphere
Beyond the competition lanes, Day Two attracted strong attendance from families, colleagues and members of the wider public. Spectator zones around the course remained lively throughout the heats, with fans cheering teams across each obstacle.
Visitors also experienced interactive and entertainment zones across the venue, alongside prize draws offering the chance to win three cars and other valuable prizes. Dubai Festival City, serving as Venue Partner, has provided a waterfront backdrop for the four-day championship.
The event is supported by a broad network of sponsors, including Al-Futtaim Automotive, First Abu Dhabi Bank, du, Red Bull, Mai Dubai, the Arabian Radio Network and Dubai Media Incorporated.
