Muse cancels Abu Dhabi concert amid unforeseen tour disruptions
Refunds to be processed automatically for all ticket holders
ABU DHABI – British rock band Muse has cancelled its highly anticipated Abu Dhabi concert, originally scheduled for February 4 at Etihad Arena, due to “unforeseen circumstances”, organisers confirmed.
The announcement, shared across social media platforms, also revealed that upcoming shows in India and South Africa have been cancelled.
In a statement, the band said the decision was “very difficult” and not taken lightly, expressing apologies to fans for the disappointment. “We’re truly sorry to everyone who purchased tickets and appreciate your understanding,” the statement read.
Ticket refunds
Live Nation has assured fans that refunds for all Abu Dhabi ticket holders will be processed automatically using the original payment method, with no additional action required from buyers. Fans are advised to monitor official channels for any updates regarding future scheduling.
Muse in Abu Dhabi
Muse, comprising Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard, has been a defining force in rock music since 1994. They are known for combining powerful rock compositions with elaborate visual productions in stadium and arena settings.
Muse last performed in Abu Dhabi in December 2024 as part of the Abu Dhabi Formula One after-race concert series at Etihad Park. That show featured a mix of classic hits and material from their recent albums, delivering high-energy performances with large-scale visuals and pyrotechnics. Reviewers highlighted the band’s continued ability to deliver grandiose live experiences well into their third decade.
Their connection with Abu Dhabi audiences dates back to 2013, marking this as their second regional debut as part of the Formula One concert series. Fans had eagerly anticipated a repeat spectacle at Etihad Arena, with expectations of a setlist including hits like Supermassive Black Hole, Uprising, Starlight, and Madness.
Band’s future plans
During downtime, Muse has focused on preparing new material. In 2025, the band released their first track in three years, Unravelling, signalling the start of a new creative phase. Bassist Chris Wolstenholme has indicated that work on the band’s 10th studio album is expected to begin soon, with new label discussions underway. He noted that the gaps between releases are increasing as the band evolves, allowing time for a creative reset.
The band will perform only a few select gigs in 2026 before fully focusing on their upcoming album. Wolstenholme has also been involved in side projects, including his work with Chromes, highlighting the members’ ongoing creative pursuits beyond Muse.
