New arrivals reinforce South Africa’s status for premium retail tourism
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The Diamond Walk at Sandton City continues to reinforce its reputation as Africa’s premier luxury shopping destination, drawing discerning shoppers from across the continent with an expanding collection of internationally renowned fashion houses and exclusive boutiques.
The Johannesburg retail destination has further enhanced its appeal with the opening of Africa’s first stand-alone Rolex boutique alongside newly refurbished luxury stores and upcoming international brand arrivals. These latest additions strengthen Sandton City’s standing as one of South Africa’s most sought-after retail and lifestyle destinations.
Situated within Sandton City, the Diamond Walk has become synonymous with world-class luxury retail, offering visitors access to some of the globe’s most prestigious brands. Many of the boutiques located along the exclusive shopping avenue are the only stores of their kind in South Africa, making the destination especially attractive to international visitors seeking premium shopping experiences.
Global brands
The Diamond Walk is home to an impressive portfolio of luxury fashion houses, including Alexander McQueen, Amiri, Balmain, Burberry, Cartier, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Tod’s, Versace and the recently renovated Zegna boutique.

The attraction extends beyond the presence of internationally recognised labels. Many retailers offer personalised shopping appointments, bespoke tailoring, product personalisation and dedicated style consultations, creating a tailored experience for customers seeking exclusivity.
Luxury watch enthusiasts are also catered for through leading timepiece specialists including Breitling, IWC, Patek Philippe and the newly opened Rolex boutique. Other premium lifestyle brands featured within the Diamond Walk include Coach, South African luxury label MaXhosa, Montblanc, Yawa and Skins, offering products that combine craftsmanship, heritage and contemporary design.
New arrivals
Among the latest additions is Africa’s first stand-alone Rolex boutique, marking a significant milestone for both the shopping destination and the luxury watch market on the continent. The boutique strengthens the Diamond Walk's growing collection of premium watch and jewellery retailers while attracting collectors and enthusiasts of one of the world's most recognised luxury brands.
Existing retailers have also invested in upgrading their presence. Ferragamo has reopened following an extensive refurbishment, while Zegna has introduced a redesigned boutique featuring an updated retail environment.

The luxury offering is set to expand further with the upcoming arrival of Tory Burch, whose new boutique will showcase the brand's signature collections inspired by travel, vibrant colours and timeless design. The latest developments are intended to ensure the shopping experience continues to meet international luxury retail standards.
Retail expansion
The wider Sandton City shopping centre has also welcomed several international names beyond the Diamond Walk. Kate Spade has opened one of only two stores in South Africa, while Marc Jacobs has also joined the retail mix. Fashion brand Boggi Milano, known as the official formal wear outfitter for FIFA, is expected to open its store soon.
Together, these additions strengthen Sandton City's position as South Africa's largest premium shopping destination, offering more than 300 local and international stores across fashion, beauty, jewellery, lifestyle and leisure categories.
Sandton City also continues to distinguish itself through its broader credentials. The shopping centre is recognised as South Africa's top-performing retail destination in terms of trading density and maintains a low vacancy rate through its long-term leasing strategy. It is also the first super-regional shopping centre in Africa to receive a Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa, recognising its environmentally sustainable operational standards.
Located alongside leading hotels and major corporate headquarters in Johannesburg, Sandton City has earned multiple Best Shopping Mall awards over the years. The centre is jointly owned by Liberty, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Bank Group, and Pareto Limited. Asset management is carried out by L2D, while Excellerate JHI Retail oversees property management as investment in new brands and upgraded luxury spaces continues across the destination.
