Trump joins Gulf leaders for high-stakes Middle East diplomatic gathering
RIYADH: His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has departed from Riyadh after leading the UAE delegation to the Gulf–US Summit on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was accompanied by a delegation including Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States of America; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and Maryam Eid AlMheiri, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

The summit is a key diplomatic engagement between leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and US President Donald Trump, as part of the American leader’s high-profile tour of the Middle East. It marks a pivotal moment in regional cooperation efforts and comes amid renewed focus on economic, security, and strategic ties between the United States and its Gulf allies. The Riyadh event is expected to set the stage for deeper collaboration on a range of critical issues, including regional stability, counterterrorism, and future investment strategies.
UAE at Riyadh summit
His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan represented the UAE at a time of accelerating Gulf-American coordination. He met Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the Gulf–US Summit held in Riyadh.

The meeting focused on the longstanding bonds between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and explored ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various fields, supporting the mutual interests of both nations and their people.

Both the Crown Princes also exchanged views on several regional and international affairs and underscored the importance of consolidating Gulf efforts to address challenges to enhance regional stability and support continued development and prosperity.
Trump in Middle East
Also, the Riyadh summit opened Trump’s three-country itinerary, which also includes Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia is the first stop, where Trump landed yesterday and was received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Trump’s Riyadh stop will be followed by a visit to Doha, where he is scheduled to meet with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Talks in Qatar will centre on expanding military cooperation – the US operates its largest Middle East airbase at Al Udeid – and potentially easing sanctions on Syria. Trump also met Syrian leader Ahmad Al Shara.
The Doha leg also includes discussions on new Qatari investments and builds on a recent Dh5.5 billion Trump Organisation golf resort deal in the country.
Trump’s regional tour will conclude in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. His visit will focus on artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, and energy partnerships. The UAE has committed to a Dh5.1 trillion investment strategy over the next ten years and is lobbying for relaxed US export controls on AI chip technologies.
In Abu Dhabi, Trump is expected to meet with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Officials say the summit will witness the announcement of a landmark AI and technology investment package, aimed at deepening ties between the two nations.
