UAE-Libya travel: flydubai expands African footprint with direct Dubai-Benghazi flights from June 2026
Codeshare partnership and fares offer wider travel options for passengers
DUBAI – Low-cost airline flydubai has announced the launch of direct flights to Benghazi in Libya, marking a significant expansion of its African network and strengthening connectivity between the UAE and North Africa.
The Dubai-based carrier becomes the first UAE airline to operate direct services between Dubai and Benghazi Benina International Airport. The new route will begin operations on 17 June 2026, with flights departing from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport.

The move reflects the airline’s continued strategy of expanding into underserved markets while building stronger international links through Dubai’s aviation hub. With three weekly services planned, the new connection is expected to enhance trade, travel and cultural exchange between the two cities while offering passengers smoother onward connectivity across flydubai’s wider network.
Dubai-Benghazi flights
Flights to Benghazi will operate three times a week, providing direct access between Dubai and Libya’s second-largest city. The service positions flydubai as the first UAE carrier to serve this route, reinforcing its role in opening new air corridors across emerging markets. Benghazi Benina International Airport will become part of the airline’s expanding African footprint, which now spans 13 destinations across nine countries.
The addition of Benghazi strengthens flydubai’s presence in East and North Africa, a region where the carrier has been steadily increasing operations. Recent network developments include the launch of services to Nairobi, marking its second destination in Kenya after Mombasa, alongside seasonal flights to Al Alamein in Egypt during peak summer demand.

flydubai’s expansion into Libya comes amid broader network growth plans, with the airline expecting to surpass 100 destinations by the summer of 2026. The carrier has been scaling up operations across multiple regions, including the GCC, the Middle East, Europe and Russia, as travel demand continues to rise.
The airline is also preparing to restart seasonal summer routes to popular destinations such as Bodrum, Dubrovnik, Mykonos, Santorini and Tivat from 22 May 2026. In addition, a daily service to Bangkok is set to launch on 01 July 2026, becoming its second destination in Thailand alongside Krabi.
According to the airline, the expansion reflects increasing passenger demand and a strong recovery in global travel flows, particularly ahead of peak travel periods including Eid and the summer holiday season.
Fares & services
The new Benghazi route will be operated as part of the flydubai and Emirates codeshare partnership, allowing passengers to benefit from integrated itineraries, single-ticket bookings and seamless baggage transfers across networks.
Return Business Class fares from Dubai to Benghazi start from Dh 10,500, while Economy Class Lite fares are priced from Dh 4,500. For return journeys from Benghazi to Dubai, Business Class fares start from $2,500 and Economy Class Lite fares from $800.
Flights will be available for booking via the official website, the official mobile application, UAE contact centre services, flydubai travel shops and authorised travel partners. Full timetable details will also be accessible through the airline’s official schedule portal.
