UAE launches exclusive consular services for Golden Visa holders abroad
New initiative rolled out by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ICP
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a new suite of consular services for Golden Visa holders abroad, offering around-the-clock support for emergencies, faster document issuance, and assistance during crises or deaths overseas.
The initiative was unveiled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) on Tuesday.
Officials confirmed that the move aims to provide continuous care and rapid response for residents holding long-term Golden Visas when they are outside the country, ensuring they receive the same level of support as Emiratis during critical situations.
Dedicated hotline
A 24/7 hotline has been established exclusively for Golden Visa holders to connect directly with the ministry’s contact centre. The number, +971 2 493 1133, will handle all urgent inquiries, coordinate evacuations during disasters, and assist in emergency situations abroad.
According to officials, the hotline is part of a broader emergency framework designed to include Golden Visa holders in evacuation plans and safety measures implemented by UAE missions overseas.
Return documents in 30 minutes
Among the highlights of the new service is the introduction of a Return Document – an electronic permit issued within just 30 minutes to help residents return to the UAE if their passport is lost or damaged abroad. The document can be requested through the ministry’s website or mobile app, eliminating the need for lengthy embassy visits.
Repatriation and burial support
The package also includes repatriation services for Golden Visa holders who pass away abroad. The ministry will coordinate with health and official authorities to arrange transportation of remains or burial in the UAE, facilitating procedures and supporting families during the process.
Officials stated that the service enables families to complete necessary transactions quickly through simplified consular channels, ensuring compassion and efficiency during difficult times.
Golden Visa
Originally introduced in 2019, the Golden Visa allows residents to live, work, and study in the UAE without a local sponsor. Eligible categories include investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, frontline heroes, exceptional students, and specialists in various fields.
Recently, Dubai extended the visa to exceptional gamers, content creators, and outstanding students, while Ras Al Khaimah introduced it for top-performing teachers. Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, opened applications for superyacht owners earlier this year.
Applications for the Golden Visa can be submitted through the ICP’s official website or at designated centres across the UAE.
